What it's about
In many rural regions of Africa and Asia, there is no clean drinking water. Many people walk several kilometres every day to fetch a bucket of water. Often this water is dirty and makes people ill. A well changes that. Clean water protects against disease and makes everyday life easier. People have more time for school, work and family. A well supplies a village for many years and improves life there permanently.
Why it matters
Clean drinking water protects against dangerous infections and diarrheal diseases caused by contaminated water.
Women and children no longer have to spend hours fetching water. They have more time for school, work and family.
Clean water does not only relieve physical hardship. It also takes away the constant worry about whether there will be enough water tomorrow.

You cover the full cost of a water well and can give it a name.
Note: The well can be named after a family member or a deceased person. In doing so, we respect local cultural and social values.

You fund a well together with other donors. A well consists of 10 shares.
Note: As soon as all shares have been taken, the project is carried out. One name per share can be submitted for the well's plaque.
Any amount
You support our well projects with an amount of your choice, starting from €1.
Note: These donations will be used for new wells and for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of existing water sources.
How it works
At Nezir Europe, building a water well takes place in four steps.
At the beginning of the year, our teams select the regions where water is needed most urgently. These are mainly remote villages that are difficult to reach.
Our teams examine the ground, determine how deep the drilling must go and make sure that the people there really need help.
When the well is finished, we have the water tested in a laboratory, including for pollutants such as arsenic. Only flawless drinking water is approved.
Where possible, we record the opening of the well with photos and videos. As a donor, you will receive these from us.

You can donate for a water well all year round. Once your donation has arrived, we take care of everything, from choosing the location to the finished well.
Depending on the country and local conditions, building a well usually takes between 2 and 8 months.
Yes. For your own well, you can choose a name. For a shared well, you can provide one name per share for the well's sign, up to 10 names per well. In doing so, we respect local cultural and social values.
