Qurban is a religious sacrifice that means ‘approaching Allah’. In Islam, the sacrifice of an animal is one of the most important acts of worship - especially during the Feast of Sacrifice (ʿId al-Aḍḥā).
It is wājib (obligatory) for all Muslims who are financially able to do so to slaughter a sacrificial animal on the feast days - according to the traditional rules.
“Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is your piety.” (Surah Al-Hajj, 22:37)
The point of the Qurban is not the slaughter itself, but the sincere intention to draw closer to Allah - and to share the good. A large portion of the meat is traditionally shared with neighbours, relatives and the needy. Wājib Qurban thus not only strengthens the relationship with God, but also social cohesion.
Wājib Qurban donations can be made via Nezir Europe every year approximately one month before the Feast of Sacrifice - up to and including the last day of the Feast of Sacrifice. Donations can be made conveniently via the website, by bank transfer or in person with a receipt. As soon as your donation has been received, the organisation of the entire process begins.
The slaughtering for Wājib Qurban takes place exclusively during the three days of the Feast of Sacrifice - as prescribed in Islam.
Nezir Europe organises slaughtering in regions where demand is particularly high - especially in disadvantaged areas of Africa and Asia. Experienced employees and trained observers on site accompany every step of the way.
Strict attention is paid to compliance with Islamic regulations - from the health and age of the animal to the ritual slaughter.
In contrast to voluntary types of Qurban, the Wājib Qurban may only be organised on the three days of the festival. The organisation therefore takes place within a very tight time frame - with intensive preparation and careful coordination by Nezir Europe.
